Volunteers Make a Difference!
Our volunteers help JDRF keep its operating costs low. Consistently, over 80 cents out of every dollar raised goes directly to diabetes research and public education, making JDRF one of the most cost efficient and productive private health research organizations in the world. All of our special events and other important activities would be impossible to carry out without the help of the Chapter’s numerous, dedicated volunteers. JDRF’s volunteers contribute their time, talent and resources to our work. More specifically, our volunteers participate in corporate networking or fundraising committees, support government relations initiatives and provide office support at our chapter office. We also rely heavily on volunteers to work “behind the scenes” at our special events - such as the Walk to Cure Diabetes, and our annual Dream Gala and Golf tournament. For more information on becoming a JDRF volunteer, please contact Nick Merritt.

Gala Committee: The Gala Committee assists with table sponsorship, ticket sales, pre-parties, recruitment of auction items, and logistics for the evening.
Major Gift Committee: The Major Gift Committee enhances relationships with the Chapter’s top prospects and donors by identifying prospects for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Government Relations Committee: The Government Relations Committee coordinates the efforts of JDRF’s National Advocacy Program enlisting local grassroots volunteers to increase awareness and funding for federal, state and local diabetes research.
Chapter Office Volunteers
Our needs for office volunteers vary depending on upcoming events.
Because our needs in this area are sporadic, we find it especially hard to fill these positions. The work usually consists of folding, stuffing and putting address labels on mass mailings, especially around Walk time. We have also needed help making copies, placing calls, updating our database and a variety of other duties.
The work must be done on the premises during weekdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. If you are interested in donating a couple of hours of your time periodically please contact Nick Merritt.
