We are proud to honor University of South Florida President, Judy Genshaft, for her amazing leadership in developing USF into a prominent, nationally-recognized center for diabetes research. The JDRF/USF partnership, which began with a JDRF grant to USF in 2004, has now totaled more than $4.5 million dollars from JDRF to USF for diabetes research. Most recently, in 2011, USF’s Dr. Jeffrey Krischer received a JDRF grant for $3.5 million dollars for his diabetes prevention studies.
As the Dream Gala Honoree, President Genshaft will be recognized for the University’s diabetes-related success under her leadership: the opening of the USF Diabetes Center; a gift from the Patterson Foundation to Launch Brining Science Home and its Students with Diabetes Program, helping empower those touched by diabetes and engaging in psychosocial diabetes research; and the new USF Health Diabetes Home clinic for adults with diabetes. The Honoree Award will be presented during the Gala by this year’s Gala co-chairs: Rob Canton, EVP Finance & Strategic Planning, Tampa Bay Lightning and Nicole Johnson, Executive Director, Brining Science Home USF Health and Miss America 1999.
